Insurance

Family Path Counseling is a concierge mental health service and does not bill through insurance plans. However, we will provide you with the necessary documentation to file for reimbursement with your insurance provider. Please contact your insurance provider and inquire about out of network provider reimbursement rates. You may be eligible to use a flex savings account or health savings account.

Why Fee-for-Service?

The reason we have opted for a fee-for-service structure rather than billing insurance is for the continuity of care, the flexibility to tailor treatment, and the freedom to treat outside of diagnosable mental illness.

All too often the full bill will end up reaching a client, perhaps weeks or months into treatment, even when paperwork has been done properly. Understandably, this can be jarring, especially if the full rate is not a good fit for your finances. The last thing we would want is for someone to be in the process of highly personal work, and feel pressured to change providers or put themselves in an untenable financial situation. Therapy should reduce your stress, not add to it.

Therapy is highly personal, and while we employ several evidence-based modalities, many clients wish to have the freedom to diverge from a structured treatment plan. A fee-for-service model allows the unmatched flexibility to provide treatment that is tailored specifically to your needs.

Finally, this model also allows clients to take the initiative in deciding who to share this process with and whether or not they want a diagnosis code which is required to bill insurance.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
